At Karila Farm you can experience the recent history of Lapland and the authentic rustic atmosphere of a farm. When Lea moved back to Karila Farm with her family in 2001, the old farm, Lea’s childhood home, was in desperate need of some TLC. Today, in addition to their home, Karila Farm offers space for creativity, events, adventures and taste experiences close to nature. Karila Farm does not strive to be a polished image of Lapland, but we as a family want to bring you authentic experiences in a farm environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adventures and activities all year round<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is something to do all year round, for all ages. Meet our chickens and goat, visit the reindeer fence, have a fire in the kota<\/a> (tipi) and marvel at the art in the Barn Gallery<\/a> (Navettagalleria). From Karila Farm you can also easily get to the surrounding area to explore environmental art<\/a> works and explore the wonderful nature of Yll\u00e4s<\/a>, as the outdoor- and story trails<\/a> start directly from the yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dogs are welcome<\/strong>, but please keep them on a leash in the yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winter in Karila<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Reindeer herder Aleksi Pantsar organizes reindeer rides during the winter season upon request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To feed the goat Tikitiki and the reindeer you may ask for treats at the caf\u00e9. Please don’t feed them your own treats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We prepare a 300 m long cross country ski training track on the Karila field. There you can learn the basics of skiing or even test your ability to skate.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In winter, when the snow conditions permit, we build a small snow mountain, a sledding hill, on the field. Sliders and sledges can be found by the house.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

After much consideration, Joona left his secure bread-winning job and moved with his family to \u00c4k\u00e4slompolo. In the morning, Joona is among the first to wake up to make the doughs for the day. Joona is Annukka’s husband and son-in-law of the house.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
